In this recent Mashable article, There Are No iPhone Killers, the author indentifies a number of characteristics that separate the iPhone from the competition.
Here is my list:
1. User Interface: The iPhone’s multi-touch interface is almost as cool as the one from Minority Report.
2. OS: Full OS X, in a bite sized candy shell.
3. iPhone SDK: Highly integrated iPhone software.
4. LBS: Location Based Services will redefine social interaction. Connect with people all around you.
5. iPhone Games: Multi-touch, Accelerometer, GPS, High Resolution Display, 3G connectivity. Enough said.
